Ha! My son and I just walked past the Oldsmobile version of this car moldering in a driveway next to an old (gold/white colored) Dodge Prospector pickup.

I had an ‘86 Celebrity Classic with the console shift, wire wheel covers and full carriage roof. It had the abysmal carb’d 2.8 with a 4 speed auto. The transmission had a reman sticker on the side, and the car only had 63,000 miles. It was totally mint, and the worst car I've ever owned. Ssssslllllooooowwwww and 14 mpg... The velour seats didn't even have a recline mechanism... The 2.8 spun a bearing at 65,000 miles and a few months later after being parked in the weeds the nice had taken over and it was toast.

Yeah, the 80s weren’t a great decade for American cars. I’d have a really hard time naming a non-Jeep auto from that decade that I’d be interested in owning.

I have not seen one of those in a LONG time.

I’d be curious how many are still running after 30+ years.
Damn I feel old.

nice - my grandfather had one in that purplish/brown color. It was not a very good vehicle... and the curved rear window distorted everything.

The highways uses to be just choked with those. There are more previous gen A- body wagons (RWD) on the road these days.

It would have been massively better to have a Eurosport with a Multiport injected 2.8. they were a major improvement. I personally LOVE American cars of the ‘80s and I’ve owned a boatload of them. That’s not to say I’d kick any other country’s cars out of bed for eating crackers, I’ve just always been partial to the American stuff.

Whereas Radwood is my personal version of hell.

How on earth has that not long since rusted into the earth living in Indiana?
My folks had an ‘82 Celebrity sedan, it always knocked when accelerating except the one time we took it to Dearborn, MI on a vacation. Apparently they can’t do hills , not even little ones.

Not terrible looking at all, but I think quality was hit and miss. A friend’s mother had one new, brown. By 1990, she was fed up with issues, and tried a Honda. She never looked back. These cars helped drive away a few people.

Pontiac claimed it was the first minivan to have automatic sliding doors. Well those stopped working in less than a year. And for some reason, it wasn’t covered on warranty.

Strangely enough, this car was in far better shape last fall: https://www.51autosales.com/details/used-1985-chevrolet-celebrity/51181788

But there were so many good Jeeps in that era . V-8 CJs, full-size Cherokees, J trucks, the dawn of the XJ, the final years of the Wagoneer, the Comanche, the Scrambler, various neat special editions like the Golden Eagle...

Sure, but I’m more likely to see those at Toledo Jeep Fest. The photos I’ve seen from Radwood don’t seem promising.
